Bosch core drill with dust extraction positioned high on an indoor wall in Milton Keynes
Core drilling with dust extraction for a ventilation opening in Milton Keynes.

This photograph from our work in Milton Keynes shows a 4-inch core drill positioned high on an internal wall, with dust extraction connected at the drilling point. Preparing the opening is one part of a wall-mounted ventilation installation that is easy to overlook when choosing a new fan.

Preparing the route for ventilation

A fan needs a suitable route for air to reach the outside. The wall construction, proposed fan position and external outlet all affect how that route is planned. A neat-looking fan cover alone cannot show whether the whole ventilation route is suitable.

The photo captures the preparation stage, rather than the finished fan. Dust extraction at the wall helps collect dust close to where the drill is working, which matters when carrying out work inside an occupied home.

Planning an extractor fan installation

If you are arranging a new extractor fan or replacing an existing unit, it helps to explain which room needs ventilation, whether there is already an outlet and where air currently leaves the property. We can discuss the practical options for the room and the work involved.
